Saathi undergarments are intended for women to wear during their monthly cycle, replacing disposable products such as sanitary napkins. Constructed to look and feel like normal underwear, they are made with extra layers and sustainable fabric to absorb menstrual blood. They can be washed, re washed and re used for a period of up to 3 years.
OUR MATERIALS
Our underwear is made of 95% bamboo fiber and 5% spandex.
Bamboo fiber is not only a soft and breathable fabric, but also regulates your body temperature properly. It protect your skin from infections and itching cause by sweating, bleeding or bacterial growth. As the fabric is made from the bamboo plant, it blends well with our philosophy of sustainable living. The 5% spandex makes the fabric more flexible to wear especially during your period.
SUSTAINABLE
Saathi underwear is composed 5% spandex and 95% bamboo fiber (a renewable resource).
Our underwear is reusable for a period of up to three years. In the UAE alone, around 450 million pads are dumped in landfills every year (Gulf News, National Geographic). Saathi is a fantastic alternative to disposable menstrual products.
Did you know one female uses up to 16,000 pads and tampons over her lifetime? Over and above that, consider all the packaging materials (also mainly plastic!) used to manufacture and ship out all those disposable pads and tampons. Where do we think this might be headed after you’ve used your disposable product – that’s right, dumped to landfill!
At Saathi, we package our products in kraft paper better known as cardboard. Cardboard is made of the renewable raw material wood, so it is one of the most sustainable packaging materials around and easily biodegradable. No other product is recycled quite as intensely as cardboard. We also believe in smart packaging to minimize material usage considerably. Our ink usage is limited to only black to reduce cartridge waste in landfills. Right now our world is facing some extreme threats of climate change and global warming. Our aim is to make the most sustainable product possible.
